Overview
This December we will be saying goodbye to the largess of Jupiter in Sagittarius and hello to a rather restricted Jupiter in its fall in Capricorn. Saturn will go retrograde in Virgo, echoing the theme of belt-tightening in times of a shrinking economy. Retrograde Mars is also in its fall in Cancer, so we will have to be extra careful around the home to avoid antagonistic situations and petty irritations. In addition, Venus will also be in her fall in Scorpio for most of the month or until New Year’s Eve, when she goes into Sagittarius for party time.
Retrograde Mars will be opposing a Capricorn Stellium during the third and fourth weeks of December, making things a bit uncomfortable for family gatherings as well as international relations because hidden antagonisms at home may be in conflict with a tendency to increase the governing authority of Jupiter in Capricorn.
Venus in Scorpio will not be getting along very well with Neptune in Aquarius. Deceptions concerning love interests or mutually held resources could spoil relationships. Nevertheless, Venus will be trining Uranus in Pisces at the time of the winter solstice, so there can be some beneficial changes in our beliefs concerning close relationships.
Most of us will definitely notice a seriousness or a feeling of limitation concerning the future of the economy within the sphere of international relations. National economies, border control, and corporate conglomeration of trade, politics and international law are the main focus of serious news reports now. We are moving toward a new era and truly saying goodbye to the 20th century and hello to the era of globalized corporatism as Pluto moves into Capricorn in late January where it will remain for approximately 16 years, until November 20, 2024.
Please note that this month’s Dreaming Indian Almanac (DIA) also contains some fairly detailed readings for the New Moon, Full Moon, and Winter Solstice, which is read as a general forecast for the year ahead. Therefore, the DIA for December, 2007, may be a little too dense for a casual reading in one sitting. Reading the DIA a little bit at a time as a daily reference might make it easier to digest.

Week of December 09 to December 15

December 09: Sagittarius New Moon for December, 2007
Sol conjuncts Luna in Sagittarius at the 18th degree. A very merry Sagittarius stellium consisting of Mercury, Moon, Sun, Jupiter and Pluto is loosely involved in a mutable t-square, consisting of Saturn in Virgo playing the part of Scrooge, and Uranus in Pisces, giving us the freedom of imagination to change. The empty spot is in Gemini, giving us the compulsive urge to communicate our generosity. Christmas stories go over very well now.
Neptune in Aquarius sextiling the New Moon gives easy access to altruistic feelings.
Mars in Cancer will be retrograde until January 30 and now forms part of a grand trine in water involving Venus in Scorpio and Uranus in Pisces. We could feel quite bonded to our homes and families and our ideas of change could involve returning to the past in order to preserve our emotional and financial security within the family circle. Our feelings of nostalgia, however, could disappear when Mars goes direct in February.
December 10: Mercury in Sagittarius squares Uranus in Pisces at the 15th degree. Irrational speech, rooted in philosophical, religious or cultural presuppositions could provoke argumentative replies: Best not to take the bait. Use caution in evaluating news reports concerning foreign countries because the reports could be little more than exaggerated statements of ideology.
December 11: Jupiter conjuncts Pluto in Sagittarius at the anaretic degree. Power plays concerning the resources of foreign countries reach the point-of-no return. Blowback is in the air both in international relations and in personal affairs. Religious extremists may try to take one last stand for control while they believe they still have the power to do so. Moderation in all things is required.
December 11: Venus in Scorpio trines retrograde Mars in Cancer at the 8th degree. Power may seem to be an aphrodiasic, especially in regards to restoring the security of the homeland. Retrograde Mars, however, may not have the power to sustain any more than a Pyhrric victory.
At the personal level, mutual investments aimed at rennovating the domicile are likely to increase the feeling of security within a relationship.
December 11: Sun in Sagittarius trines Neptune in Aquarius at the 20th degree. We are willing to express our belief in humanity in a hopeful and idealistic manner.
December 12: Venus in Scorpio sextiles Saturn in Virgo at the 9th degree. Mutual investments may be profitably managed in common-sense ways. Deep affections are positively moderated and contained.
December 13: Mercury in Sagittarius sextiles Neptune in Aquarius at the 20th degree. Religious and philosophical speech tends towards peace on earth, good will towards men.
Week of December 16 to December 22

December 17: Mercury conjuncts the Sun at the 25th degree of Sagittarius. A combust Mercury in Sagittarius could ”burn up” our reasoning abilities and we might become dogmatic or overly generous. Our thinking is exaggerated: good for the telling of tall tales by the fireside. Raconteurs should be successful in entertaining their audiences.
December 17: Venus in Scorpio trines Uranus in Pisces at the 16th degree. New Age beliefs and practices support bonded affections in ways that share resources.
December 18: Jupiter enters Capricorn bringing with it increase and good luck for conservatives. The judicial, ethical and philosophical tenor of the times will lean toward the right, as the planet of the higher mind tenants the sign of conservatism in government until January 06, 2009.
December 19: Saturn goes stationary retrograde at the 19th degree of Virgo, giving us a time to focus intently on the limitations imposed by our duty to work and service and the necessity of protecting our health through careful dietary habits. Saturn will end its retrograde period on May 2, 2008, giving us more than five months to seriously deal with the realities of work and health as we change our subconscious understandings of limits and boundaries in these areas.
December 19: Mercury conjuncts Pluto at the anaretic degree of Sagittarius, creating a tendency to think in do-or-die terms regarding religious, judicial and ethical stances, especially as they affect international affairs: Avoid extremism in favor of moderation.
December 20: Mercury conjuncts Jupiter in Sagittarius at the anaretic degree so that our thinking may be without critical constraints and we may go overboard in expressing our beliefs. Unreasonable statements should not be taken seriously since the tendency to exaggerate is in the air.
December 21: Sun enters Capricorn: Winter Solstice for December, 2007
Moderation will definitely be the keynote for the coming year, with Saturn in Virgo trining the Sun, Jupiter and Capricorn, as well as trining Pluto in late Sagittarius. We will prosper in the coming year if we mind our p’s and q’s where work and service is concerned. This would be a good year to get that certificate or degree to gain professional credibility.
Retrograde Mars opposes the Capricorn stellium, so we will do best by avoiding conflict, especially in the home, with women and children. We could be influenced by an unfortunate tendency to feel sorry for ourselves while resisting authority and pick little fights that go nowhere.
Saturn in Virgo squares the Moon in Gemini, so emotional conflicts are best left unexpressed during the coming year.
Venus is at the sensitive 20th degree of Scorpio, which could get us in trouble if we become overly concerned with trading affection for the purpose of appropriating other peoples’ resources. Venus makes a trine to Uranus in Pisces at 16th degree, the Sabian symbol for which is an art student drinking in inspiration in a musuem.
The proper use for this Scorpio Venus energy would therefore be to apply Venus’ desire to merge into absorbing the finer points of one’s cultural inheritance in a way that would be positively and spiritually transformative. There is a cultural patrimony to be gained for those who would wish to be changed by immersion into the arts.
Letting the unconscious processes of the mind aid in learning by osmosis could considerably soften and ameliorate some of the more harsh and constrictive Capricornian energies that will define the year 2008.
The north node of the moon in Aries sextiles the Solar Ingress, so this will be a good year to act independently to achieve one’s goals and life purposes.
Over all, the year of 2008 will seem to be more somber and controlled than last year, which had a Jupiter mood, with Jupiter being in Sagittarius.
Furthermore, Pluto will move into Capricorn on January 26, 2008, where it will reside, except for brief retrogrades in-and-out of Capricorn, until November 20, 2024.
For most people, the Pluto in Capricorn year of 2008 will probably be a time of economic constriction and restucturing as the corporations increase in size and power.
The common people may lose many battles for judicial reform.
The courts could secretly implement transformative legal structures for corporate govermental control of international relations through trade agreements affecting international borders.
Many such trade, border, and currency exchange agreements have already been signed, but not yet widely publicized.
In short, the coming year could be remembered for a long time as the year of corporate consolidation of international power.
December 22: Venus in Scorpio squares Neptune at the 20th degree of Aquarius. Beware of deception in affairs of the heart that could be rooted in greed. In international affairs, claims to humanitarian motives will eventually fail to explain the desire to appropriate the resources of others.
December 22: Mercury in Capricorn opposes Mars in Cancer at the fourth degree. Restrictive thinking must be balanced with the desire to take action for the family. Good sense is required to take care of the family using moderation, yet without stinting: A Scrooge moment is in the air.
Week of December 23 to December 29

December 23: Sun conjuncts Jupiter in Capricorn at the first degree so that we feel generous in a material way. The new Capricorn cycle brings profit to business: Scrooge goes on a shopping spree.
December 23: Luna in Cancer opposes Sol in Capricorn at the second degree.
Cancer Full Moon (Wolf Moon) for December, 2007
The full moon in Cancer brings an emphasis on home and family. This year, retrograde Mars is conjunct the Moon, bringing an irritated quality to the feelings for those who may be ruminating about the past and feeling slighted. However, the Sun in Capricorn is in a stellium consisting of Mercury and Jupiter, with Pluto in Sagittarius trailing along. For people who make an effort to balance their emotions in a controlled way, this full moon offers many material blessings of security. Without such emotional control, however, people could find themselves angry and resenting the control of others. Young people in particular could be difficult to deal with and parents would do well to make an effort to be firm but fair.
Venus in Scorpio squares Neptune in Aquarius, saying that we should be careful of being too attached to our desires. There is the possibility of deception or fraud for those who do not exercise common sense in interpersonal relationships.
Luckily, retrograde Saturn in Virgo trines the Capricorn stellium, helping us to rely on old patterns of good sense and self-control in order to maximize the holiday fun.
Uranus in Pisces trines Venus in Scorpio, giving us the emotional depth to change our ways of expressing affection if we should so desire.
December 24: Christmas Eve. Sun in Capricorn opposes retrograde Mars in Cancer at the third degree. The will to govern in a limiting manner is opposed to taking action in accordance with subconscious feelings. Passive aggression and crybaby feelings are in the air: Be kind, be fair.
December 25: Christmas Day. Mercury in Capricorn trines retrograde Saturn in Virgo at the ninth degree. Our logical thinking and careful preparation for the holiday should be paying off now as everything runs like clockwork.
Merry Christmas!
December 26: Retrograde Mars in Cancer opposes Jupiter in Capricorn at the second degree. Don’t be surprised if someone younger than you tries to take a mile if given an inch. Try to avoid crankiness and tears in the home environment. Take it easy and try to do things carefully and slowly.
December 29: Mercury in Capricorn sextiles Uranus in Pisces at the 16th degree. Careful planning makes implementing an original idea possible.
December 30: Sun in Capricorn trines retrograde Saturn in Virgo at the ninth degree. The will to be frugal and sensible is in accord with a careful review of diet plans and work methodologies.
December 30: Venus enters Sagittarius, putting everyone in a festive mood.
December 31: New Year’s Eve.
Happy New Year!
